(cont..) Sadly, most "snitches" (based on my long years of personal experience) are not motivated by true patriotism or noble virtues. Rather, they comprise the most debased segment of society/humanity. Most are greedy, filthy, slimy, immoral grubs....
The manner in which the internal security/anti-terror agencies have been set-up in Australia... what you need to realize is there is NO oversight whatsoever of their functions. Hence, if one is screwed over by these gangs of rapacious snitches (whether out of jealousy, personal grudges, racism and whatnot..) there is NO avenue of redress. They are absolutely a law unto themselves. Federal Attorney General, Ombudsman, the Directors-General of the concerned agencies, either won't give a damn, or are happy to participate in a cover up. Sad but true.

I was reading your book "Lessons Learned from Solzhenitsyn" and although I only got through a portion of it, your comparison of the USSR and Australia with regards to "snitching" is perceptive and most apt... although Australia appears to be a "free" country on the surface, this is largely an illusion.
Let us not lose sight of the billions poured annually into "safeguarding" national security, law & order and anti-terrorism! That money buys a lot of "snitches", covert intrigues & trickery !!
The amount of snitching that goes on in Australia today is not less than, say, a country like East Germany during Stasi times, it's just less obvious.

Judgement, Professor Makarov does not avoid being clear, he pleaded not guilty on all charges. Is it nice enough for you?

" I had never, ever in this life caused suffering to anybody by my evil attitude. I have always loved, love and will love all my students [including those who put me in the prison] independently of their achievements, ups and downs." V.Makarov

Would have been nice if he clearly stated that he never did anything sexual with any of his students, but alas he avoids being clear.

Y. must have forgotten the reason WHY he ran away from Warren in 1999...

Wendy-
please don't spread b.s. that you are not 100% certain of.

I happen to know Prof Thomson VERY well, like family.
He is a great man in and out.
If you aren't 100% sure that he is a paedophile (which you don't as you've never seen him in act); please don't talk about him that way.
Rumours!
Yemstov remains in good relations with Thomson- and still stays over once in awhile.

With Makarov- he's a great teacher whom i admire.
He has done amazing things for the likes of Gavrilyuk.
The accusations made against him could either be true or false (as there are no clear evidence)
but again, nobody can be certain.

So unless everyone saying s*** about him here have experienced it first-hand or have evidence- please shoosh.
I'm not on Makarovs side OR the students; but nobody can condemn him without complete certainty.

I would just like to say that Professor Makarov was the best teacher I have encountered. I started piano with him when i was 4 years old and was with him until i stopped playing. After he was sent to jail, I just couldn't find another teacher like him and so I stopped.

Prof.Makarov Is a great teacher!

Stop spreading this rubbish about the window. It WAS ALWAYS UNCOVERED!!!!!!!!
By the way anybody could enter the room at any time with no problem.

Dear Professor V.Makarov,

I can't thank you enough for all your efforts in helping me to become a musician! Reading through this forum I found that some people intentionally try to let you down by telling lies about covered window in your classroom. If necessary, I can testify on Bible that the window in your room was never covered. We always looked through it to see if the previous student has finished and it was appropriate to enter the room.

I would like you to know that you were the best teacher in my life and I hope that very soon we will resume our lessons.

My son was studying with Professor V.Makarov at the AIM. I can swear that there was NO COVER on his door windows either in the old or the new building. We remember that we looked through that windows to make sure that we could enter the room.

Unfortunately for my son, the great piano teacher, Professor Victor Makarov was verbally accused with absolutely NO EVIDENCE - and imprisoned! What a trerrible loss for the world culture!

Sokolov used to work on the other side next to Makarov's room, NOT next to the kitchen biggrin He was a very good friend of Makarov, I remember how he used to come to his room from time to time.
And there was a small door window in the room, never covered. There was a big window that had blinds, never closed as I remember that during the master classes and lessons one could see people in the building on the opposite side. By the way, there are no allegations in the case that would include professor's old room.

P.S. All five Ukrainian students have got an Australian Citizenship, not residency. I would suggest that you don't write about anything you don't know about.

My friend doesn't read between the lines too well...
I'm not arguing about Thomson biggrin
I just would like to say that after Y. RAN from Thomson's house in October 1999, Makarov stopped communicating with Warren. Don't forget, that "every man and his dog knows about old man Thompson and his boy-habit" HERE, in Western world, not in "poverty stricken Ukraine". There were some rumors...That's why, before coming to Australia, Professor spoke to Y. parents and ask them if they would still accept Thomson's invitation to let their son live with him. So the invitation was from Thomson to Y.'s family. They still agreed. Then Professor offered that the principal Guardian of Y. would be Professor but Thomson didn't know about it.

"By the way, during the trial of 2005 A. Y. claimed (from the witness box) that Thomson was his friend."

Thompson secured all of them their residency permits - he could get them deported and end their Australian ambitions if he was antagonised...the man is a ruthless mongrel. Of course Y. would say he was a friend. He wanted to stay in Australia!
